You know you have to press the WinKey FIRST, right? As in WinKey+TAB
I most likely missing something very simple, but i cant get the flip 3d to work. The areo glass works fine, and so does everything else. I press winkey+tab and nothing. Anyone have any suggestions, maybe i need to change a setting?

Posted 5/14/2006 by Steve Sinchak Would you like to add a shortcut to your desktop or quick launch bar that launches the new Flip 3D tab replacement?
1. Right click on your desktop and select New and then Shortcut.
2. Copy and paste RunDll32 DwmApi #105 into the location box and hit Next.
3. Enter in a name for your shortcut and hit Finish.
4. Copy/Cut and Paste your new shortcut where ever you want.

works for me...

Wow, you shouldn't have to do ANY of that. All I do is press Window-Tab, and the Flip3D feature just works. There should be no need to involve the CTRL key or any part of the mouse. I just hold down the Window key and then tap TAB. Each time I tap TAB, the next window rolls to the front and the front window rolls to the rear of the pack. When I have the window I want in front, I just release the Window key, and that application becomes the active one. That's all there's supposed to be to it.
I'm guessing that if it doesn't work this way, Setup detected enough of a deficiency in the GPU to not install it. Why doesn't everyone respond with their make and model? I'm using a Radeon X800XL with 256MB of RAM.

Right click on your desktop, go to personalization. Click on "Window color and appearance". Make sure that "Windows Aero" is selected. Some programs will not work with Windows Aero settings and Vista will default to "Windows Vista Basic" settings until that program is closed. I have found that trillian basic causes this problem for me. I am sure there are others out there. It took me serveral hours to figure out what the problem was so don't feel bad.

Flip 3D does not work for me. Neither the shortcut or winkey+tab. I have build 5384.4.
Are you seeing Aero Glass? If not, your system may not support the function.

Just a quick point - I have the ATI Radeon Vista drivers installed and it does not say WDDM next to them in Device Manager, even though they are WDDM.

I am not able to start the Flip 3D effect. According to Windows Help and Support I am supposed to get all your open windows stacked on top of each other by pressing ALT + Windows key. And I have read somewhere else that you are supposed to use Ctrl + Windows key + TAB.
What is correct, and do I have to do something to activate the Flip 3D effect first?
-Gjert
Hello,
Flip3D is activated by pressing CTRL, Windows Key, and Tab at the same time.
Flip3D is only available if you are running "glass", which means you have a recent video card and a fairly decent computer.
If the title and borders around your windows are gray instead of transparent, then your system is unable to do Flip3D.
- JB
Strange. For some reason the glass effect seem a bit ustable on my computer. Sometimes the title and borders are transparent, and sometimes ther're grey. I guess they must have been grey when I have tried this earlier, because this time the Flip 3D effect worked.
Thanks for your answer.
-Gjert
Vista shuts down some visual effects when certain of my programs are running. Initially warned about doing this.

Some programs are not well-behaved in Glass, so the system gives you a better experience by switching off the effects.

You only have to press CTRL if you want to 'lock' Flip3D and then tab through them. You can use Windows + Tab to cycle through them and when you let go it closes it.
